7 WONDERS OF THE MODERN WORLD
New Seven Wonders of the world were announced on July 7, 2007 following a global poll to decide a new list of human-made marvels.
1.  Great Wall of China:
It is the Worlds longest human-made structure and run about 4000 miles (6400) east to west. Parts of fortification date from the 4th century. In 214 BC Shi Huangdi Connected existing defensive walls into a single system fortified by watch towers. The basic wall is about 30 ft (9m) high, and the towers rise to about 40 ft (12m).
2.  Christ The Redeemer Statue:
It is 105-foot (38 m) tall statue in Rio de janerio, Brazil.
3.  The Colosseum, Rome, Italy:
It once held up to 50,000 spectator who came to watch gory games involving gladiators, wild animals and prisoners. It construction began around 70 AD under Emperor Vespasian. Modern sport stadium still resemble the colosseums famous design.
4.  Petra, Jordon:
Perched on the edge of the Arabian Desert, it was capital of Nabataean Kingdom of King Aretas IV (9 BC to 40 AD). It is famous for its many stone structures such as a 138-foot (42m) tall carved with classical facades into rose-coloured rock.
5.  Machu Picchu, Peru:
The ruined is among the best known remnants of the Inca civilization, which flourished in the Andes region of western south America. The city is thought to have been abandoned following an outbreak of smallpox.
6.  Chichen Itza, Mexico:
 It was the political and religious centre of Maya civilization during the period from 750-1200 AD. At the citys heart the Temple of Kukulkan, which rises to height of 79 feet (24 meter). Each of its four sides has 91 steps – one step for each day of the year, with the364th day represented by the platform on the top.
7.  Taj Mahal, India:

 It is the spectacular mausoleum built by Muslim Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan to honour the memory of his beloved late wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Its Construction began in 1632 and took about 15 years to complete. It includes 4 minerets, each more than 13 stories tall.
