The Daffodils Author William Wordsworth I wandered lonely as a cloud That floats on high o'er vales and hills, When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttring and dancing in the breeze Continuous as the stars that shine And twinkle on the milky way, They stretch in a never-ending line Along the marjin of a bay; Ten thousand saw I at a glance, Tossing their heads in sprightly dance. He stood right before with his head tilted down And said with great excitement,"Look what I found!' In his hand was a flower,and what a pitiful sight, With its petals all worn-not enough rain,or too little light. Wanting him to take his dead flower and go off to play, I faked a smile and shifted away. But instead of retreating he sat next to my side And placed the flower to his nose and declared with overacted surprise, 'it sure smells pretty and it's beautiful too.
