Digital Electronics
Engineers generally classify electronic circuit as being either analog digital in nature. Historically, most electronics product contained analog circuity. Most newly designed electronic devices contain at least some digital circuity.
What are the clues that an electronic product contains digital circuity? Signs that a device contains digital circuity include:
- Does it have an alphanumeric (shows letters and numbers) display?
- Does it have a memory or can it store information?
- Can the device the programmed?
If the answer to any one of the three questions is yes, then the product probably contains digital circuity.
Digital circuity is quickly becoming pervasive because because of its advantages over analog including:
- Generally, digital circuits are easier to design using modern integrated circuits (ICs).
- Information storage is easy to implement with digital.
- Devices can be made programmable with digital.
- More accuracy and precision is possible.
- Digital circuity is less affected by UN wanted electrical interference called noise.
All persons working in electronics must have knowledge of digital electronic circuit. You will use a variety of integrated circuit and displays in your study of digital electronics.
